My Story

Hi I’m Lucy and I own and run Wines by the Sea in Southsea, a lovely little independent wine shop which sells a great selection of wine from around the world and local beers & spirits. I’ve lived all over the place including London, Birmingham & Bournemouth but Southsea is always the place I come back to, the place I call home.

Well, it’s always been about wine even if it was just more of an interest in the background but back in October 2020 is when I felt it was time to learn more about the wine I was drinking and try many, many more wines (and some food) so I could qualify as a sommelier and that is what I did. Let’s face it, we were 9 months into a global pandemic & I was looking for something to be feel inspired by and wine was the answer.

From that came the drive to take everything I had learnt up until this point within my retail background to start my own shop, a wine shop and what better place than Southsea – my previous hometown and Portsmouth the place I was born. The stars aligned and I found myself in possession of the cutest little shop at 2c Albert Road.
